Motor City Motors
There is a new showing that will premiere on the Discovery Channel tonight. It’s called Motor City Motors and it features two brothers from Detroit Michigan who’s job is to use technology and design to turn basic machines into something better.
The brothers are James and Dave Kaye, and they own Detroit Brothers Custom Cycles, also based in the Detroit area. In the first episode, the brothers are instructed to take a 1928 Model T and build some sort of rat rod. If they get the job done in the 5 day goal, they’ll win $5000 worth of tools and tool boxes.
The Detroit Bros are in a similar position as many people in the Detroit area – hurting. If business doesn’t pick up, they’ll have to shut down the shop. Well, okay…with that said, we all know they have a TV show now, so the idea of the shop shutting down is kinda silly. They do get paid by the Discovery Channel right?
Anyway, we do know that they ‘were’ hurting before the show came along. And, depending on how the ratings go, they may or may not get rich off the thing. If this turns into another American Chopper or Monster Garage, the boys could realistically be the next big thing. Motor City Motors is another Thom Beers show, the same guy who produces Deadliest Catch, Dirty Jobs, and several other hit shows on the Discovery Channel. So, the odds are on their side.
