Poker Cheats
Poker has gained notoriety as fertile ground for cheaters to scam players out of their money. The old American West traditions are filled with stories of poker cheats. And recent scandals of online cheating have come to light too.
There are tricks that allow people to cheat at poker, and ways to spot a cheater too. Casinos with professional dealers are unlikely spots for cheating because there is video surveillance everywhere. You’ll notice that the dealers always clap and twist their hands toward the camera when they arrive and leave a table. It serves as proof that the dealer did not bring or take any cards when changing tables. Few dealers are going to risk their job or license by cheating.
Private poker games, held in clubs or someone’s home, are more vulnerable to cheating techniques. There are ways to spot cheating techniques and steps you can take to prevent cheating when you are in unfamiliar surroundings not subject to video monitoring or any kind of “floor management” personnel.
The first and obvious way to avoid being scammed by cheaters is to leave the premise! If the atmosphere seems tainted, with the winning cards continually falling to the same players, then your best bet is to head for the exit. Don’t let pride or fear of appearing scared impair your better judgment. If you suspect that the game is rigged, then get out and play somewhere else some other time.
